KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops says work will begin next week on a year-long project to upgrade Albert McGowan Park’s water park and playground.

The first phase will include tearing down the existing playground and replacing it with a more accessible version that will include shade structures and a rubber surface.

That work is expected to be finished by the end of November.

The second phase will get underway in March 2025.

It involves tearing out the existing water park and putting up a new park with a recirculating system along with new surfaces and water features. That work is expected to wrap up next September.

For reference, the city says the new water park will be similar to those recently installed at Riverside Park.
