Interior Health warns Kamloops drug users of increased poisoning risk

KAMLOOPS — Interior Health (IH) has issued a warning for people who use drugs in the Kamloops area.

In a bulletin distributed Friday (Sept. 20), IH says the warning has been issued “due to increased fatal and ongoing non-fatal drug poisoning overdoses.”

While similar alerts often describe substances observed to have been poisoned, this alert does not specify.

Instead, it advises people to check their drugs no matter how they ingest them — smoking, snorting, injecting or eating.

Those who use drugs are also advised to have a naloxone kit handy and to never use alone.
