Sport BC to honour 10 Kamloops sports volunteers at Community Sport Hero Awards ceremony

KAMLOOPS — Ten volunteers in the Kamloops sports scene will be honoured at Sport BC’s Community Sport Hero Awards ceremony.

In a news release issued Thursday (Sept. 19), Sport BC says it is honouring the list of Kamloopsians who volunteer with member and partner organizations and demonstrate the spirit of volunteerism with the years of dedication and commitment they give to their sport.

The 10 recipients are:

• Kyle Allan — Ice Hockey
• Scott Andruschak — KidSport Kamloops
• Katie Britton — Archery
• Marc Britton — Archery
• Dan Coombs — Wheelchair Basketball
• Claudio Klarich — Soccer
• Ashley Meier — Ice Hockey
• Murray Owen — Kamloops Sport Legacy
• Barb Warsimage — Softball
• Patrick Waters — Triathlon

“I applaud the exceptional recipients of Sport BC Community Sport Hero Awards, each believe in the transformative power of sport and are bringing their various skill sets and talents to the amateur sport organizations for which they have volunteered,” Rob Newman, Sports BC president and CEO says. “Volunteering is the backbone of sport in British Columbia and these recipients are inspiring examples of the exceptional people volunteering to deliver amateur sport in Kamloops.”
