CLEARWATER, B.C. — The emergency department at Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital in Clearwater will be unavailable for most of Tuesday (Sept. 17).

In a news release issued Monday evening, Interior Health states the emergency department in Clearwater will be temporarily closed from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday due to “limited nurse availability.”

All other inpatient services will continue as normal at the Clearwater hospital, but Interior Health says residents in the area who need life-threatening emergency care are being asked to call 9-1-1 or visit 100 Mile District General Hospital in 100 Mile House or Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops during the closure.

It’s the eighth temporary closure of the emergency department in Clearwater in 2024.
