One person dead after truck goes into Carpenter Lake west of Lillooet
LILLOOET, B.C. — A person was found dead in Carpenter Lake west of Lillooet.
On Sept. 7, at around 10:16 p.m., Lillooet RCMP say officers were asked to check in on a man without clothes along Lillooet Pioneer Road 40 by Carpenter Lake.
However, while en route, police say they were told the man was given a ride by a driver to a nearby resort lodge. He said he was in a single-vehicle collision where the black Dodge Ram pickup truck he was in went into Carpenter Lake. A second occupant was still believed to be in the truck.
In a news release issued Sunday (Sept. 15), RCMP say its Underwater Recovery Team held a water dive in the area the following day and found the vehicle submerged in the lake with the sole occupant inside deceased.
