ERT arrest in Merritt last week related to armed break-in: RCMP
MERRITT, B.C. — A list of charges has been approved against a man accused of breaking into a Merritt home last week, brandishing a gun.
In a news release issued Monday (Sept. 9), Staff Sgt. Josh Roda says the incident began last Thursday evening at a home in the 1600-block of Bann Street.
Officers responded to a report of a man with a gun who had broken into the home and uttered threats. Before Mounties arrived, the man had taken off. Police eventually caught up to him at a unit in the Diamond Vale Mobile Home Park, where he was arrested by members of the Southeast District Emergency Response Team (ERT).
Roda says the man was familiar to residents at both the Bann Street home and the mobile home, leading police to believe the incident was targeted.
