B.C. Supreme Court judge and former Kamloops lawyer appointed to B.C. Court of Appeal

KAMLOOPS — A judge and former lawyer with ties to Kamloops was appointed as a Justice of Appeal in the Court of Appeal for B.C.

In a news release issued Aug. 29, the federal Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada Arif Virani announced Sheri Ann Donegan would replace the recently-resigned Justice J.L.L. Hunter after serving as a judge on the Supreme Court of B.C. since 2013.

After earning a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Saskatchewan in 1992, Donegan practised at Mair Jensen Blair in Kamloops until 1998. She was a frequent lecturer on child protection issues.

Donegan served as Crown counsel for the Attorney General of B.C. in Kamloops and New Westminster from 1998 to 2010. Prior to her appointment to the Supreme Court of B.C., Donegan was a judge of the Provincial Court of B.C. from 2010 to 2013.
