KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops issued a press release on Friday (Sept. 6) to note it has terminated its agreement with Saltair Childcare Society, which was scheduled this fall to open and operate the Lorne Street Childcare Facility.

The city notes in the press release that due to recent events it has lost confidence in the operator’s ability to meet contractual obligations and provide the level of service it expects from a partner in child care.

Saltair Childcare Society is doing business as Inquiring Little Minds, which has been contacted for comment by CFJC.

The city will seek an alternative child care operator and notes the opening of the Lorne Street facility — which originally had a prospective opening day of Aug. 1 — will be delayed.

“We are actively seeking a new operator and are confident that we will secure exceptional caregivers,” notes the city press release. “The facility itself has been beautifully crafted and is ready to open as soon as a new operator is selected.

“We are committed to improving our community’s access to quality childcare and apologize for the delay as we work to create the best opportunity possible.”
