KAMLOOPS — The Thompson Rivers University (TRU) WolfPack men’s soccer club picked up their first win of the 2024 Canada West regular season at home Friday (Aug. 30).

First-year forward Lachlan Will scored twice in the second half – one in the 66th minute and another in the 78th minute – as the WolfPack came back to defeat the Trinity Western University Spartans 2-1 at Hillside Stadium.

“I’m happy, it was a great way to start the season at home,” Will states. “Was a tough fight but I’m really happy for the team and how we responded in the second half. I think it was a mixture of a couple things in the second half, as a team we just raised our level. We had a really good spell at the end of the first half but just couldn’t score. In the second half we were able to finish and some players came off the bench to make a really good impact.”

The WolfPack men improve to one win, two losses and zero draws on the 2024 season. They welcome the University of Fraser Valley Cascades to Hillside Stadium Saturday, Aug. 31, at 7:00 p.m.

On the women’s side, the WolfPack were not as fortunate, as they surrendered two goals in the second half en route to a 2-0 road loss to the University of British Columbia Okanagan Heat in Kelowna.

The WolfPack women start the season with zero wins, one loss and zero draws. They’ll play their home opener Friday, Sept. 6 against the Trinity Western University Spartans. Kickoff will be at 5:00 p.m. from Hillside Stadium.
