Kamloops searcher continue efforts to find Alberta man who was swept away in North Thompson River
KAMLOOPS — The search for a man who was swept away in the North Thompson River last month continues.
In a post to social media, Kamloops Search and Rescue (KSAR) says it has been tasked to search the North Thompson River for 50-year-old Stan Cappis of Red Deer Saturday (Aug. 31). Anyone who sees KSAR searchers near the river is asked to give them space and avoid the area if possible.
Cappis and a friend were enjoying the river with several young people on Friday, July 12 near the Tournament Capital Ranch in Rayleigh when two of the younger people stepped off of a sandbar and started to be carried downstream. Kamloops RCMP says Cappis and his friend jumped in to rescue the two, but only three of the four made it to shore.
Cappis is described as white with an athletic build and dark hair. He was last seen wearing shorts and sunglasses.
