KAMLOOPS — A plethora of RCMP units were in Kamloops on Friday (Aug. 23), when the RCMP’s Uniform Gang Enforcement Team and the South East District Emergency Response Team were called into action.

The units converged on a home in the 1100-block of 13th Street on the North Shore to execute a search warrant after discovering an injured victim at the residence, which is known to police. The injuries are considered non-life threatening.

Several people inside the home were arrested on Friday and have since been released with conditions.

“Targeting those who are known to be part of the Kamloops drug trafficking scene continues to be a focus for the Kamloops RCMP Detachment, as we work to suppress and reduce the violence and crime we know is associated to it,” Kamloops RCMP Superintendent Jeff Pelley said in a press release.

“With the support of our partners, including the CFSEU-BC UGET, our presence and enforcement efforts remain steadfast, from the frontline onward, to hold offenders accountable and make our community safer still.”

The active investigation is expected to result in charge recommendations being forwarded to the prosecution service.

“This weekend, we did have the CFSEU (Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit) Uniform Gang enforcement team, known as UGET, in town helping us with our ongoing efforts around suppression and enforcement particularly to those that are involved in drug trafficking,” said Evelyn.
