Lightning storm slams Cache Creek water treatment plant; restrictions enacted
CACHE CREEK, B.C. — The Village of Cache Creek is pleading with residents to cut their water use after the community’s water treatment plant was impacted by a lightning storm that passed through Friday (Aug. 24).
In a Voyent Alert! message distributed Friday evening, the village says, “Due to the recent lightning storm and power fluctuations, our water treatment plant has been significantly impacted.”
The village says it is working to rectify the situation but does not have a timeline for when the plant may be back online.
The Stage 4 Water Advisory enacted Friday asks residents to limit water use to essential purposes only, such as drinking, cooking and basic hygiene. Residents are asked to avoid running dishwashers and washing machines, and to shorten showers.
