Temporary closure extended for Lillooet emergency department

LILLOOET, B.C. — A temporary closure of the emergency department in Lillooet has been extended by 25 hours.
In a news release issued Wednesday (Aug. 21) night, Interior Health states the emergency department at Lillooet Hospital and Health Centre will remain unavailable until 8:00 a.m. Friday (Aug. 23) due to “limited physician availability.” All other inpatient services will continue as normal at the Lillooet Hospital.
Residents in Lillooet and area who are in need of life-threatening emergency care are asked to call 9-1-1 or visit Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.
It’s the sixth temporary closure of the emergency department in Lillooet in 2024, and the fifth in August alone.
