Environment Canada calling for heavy rain in Kamloops starting Friday evening

KAMLOOPS — Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the South Thompson region, including the City of Kamloops, calling for heavy rain.

The forecasting agency says starting Friday night, the area is expected to receive rain from a low pressure system tracking inland from the Oregon Coast.

At least 15-to-25 millimetres of rain is expected, though areas hit the hardest could get as much as 40 millimetres.

The system is expected to taper off to a few showers by Saturday.

In addition to Kamloops and the South Thompson, the statement also covers the Fraser Canyon and Whistler areas.
