Coldplay’s Got The Biggest Rock Tour
Coldplay’s ongoing Music of the Spheres World Tour is now the biggest rock tour of all time. Based on figures reported to Billboard Boxscore, the Music of the Spheres World Tour has grossed $945.7 million, while selling a total of 8.8 million tickets since Coldplay first started their run of shows back in March of 2022. That makes it both the highest-grossing and best-selling tour for a rock act in the 40 years since Boxscore first began compiling concert data. Coldplay still has 21 shows remaining on their tour schedule, which could add another million tickets sold to the tour’s total, bringing them close to the unprecedented total of 10 million.
Coldplay’s current tour surpassed the previous record holder, Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, which grossed $939.1 million during its run from 2018-23. John overtook U2’s U2 360 Tour, which earned $736.4 million between 2009-11. Next on the list of highest grossing tours is the Rolling Stones’ A Bigger Bang Tour, which raked in $558 million in 2005-07. The all-time Top 10 is rounded out by AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Roger Waters.
