SICAMOUS, B.C. — Danny Anthony Sirvio of Sicamous has been charged with second-degree murder after a year-long investigation into the death of his uncle, Wayne Sirvio.

A male was reported missing on Aug. 2, 2023, and three days later police found Wayne Sirvio’s body in a rural Sicamous residence after executing a search warrant, according to an RCMP media release on Saturday (Aug. 17).

The death of Wayne Sirvio spurred the first of three homicide investigations that have taken place in the last year in Sicamous, and is the second to result in charges, according to the release.

“The successful resolution to this investigation can only be attributed to the effective co-ordination between multiple RCMP units, including Sicamous RCMP, Salmon Arm RCMP, Chilliwack RCMP, Forensic Identification Services and the Southeast District Major Crime Unit,” RCMP Staff Sgt. Jason Smart said in the release.

“We hope that the arrest and charge of [57-year-old] Danny Sirvio brings a sense of relief to the community of Sicamous and the surrounding area.”

The second-degree murder charge was approved by the BC Prosecution Service on Friday (Aug. 16) and RCMP note there will be no further updates on the matter as it is now before the courts.
