ER CLOSURE

Emergency services temporarily unavailable at Nicola Valley Hospital for 10th time this year

MERRITT — The emergency department at Nicola Valley Hospital (NVH) in Merritt has shuttered temporarily for the 10th time this year.

Interior Health issued a media release on Friday (Aug.16) night to note that due to limited physician availability emergency services will be unavailable from 6 a.m. on Saturday (Aug. 17) to 8 a.m. on Sunday (Aug. 18).

Patients can access care during the closure at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops while all other inpatient services continue as normal at NVH.

Those who need life-threatening emergency care for health issues such as chest pains, difficulty breathing and severe bleeding should call 911 for transport to the nearest available facility.
