The Kamloops Minor Hockey Association is holding a fundraiser for one of its own.

Rob Fryer, an ice scheduler for KMHA, said skating coach Michelle Pepin has been diagnosed with cancer and was unable to work this summer.

“We’re trying to do a fundraiser to help her get back on her feet,” Fryer said. “She’s so heavily involved with us, so we decided to come out with some sort of support.”

Fryer said Pepin will receive funds raised from a barbecue, dunk tank and silent auction, with the event slated to run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday (Aug. 13) at the Kamloops Kia dealership (808 Eighth St.) on the North Shore.
