Vehicle accident knocks out power, impacts traffic on Highway 1 near Cherry Creek

UPDATE (11:40 a.m.): Highway 1 near Cherry Creek is open to single-lane-alternating traffic. Drivers are told to expect delays and watch for road crews.

BC Hydro says power is still out for 241 customers in the area.

EARLIER: KAMLOOPS — A stretch of the Trans Canada Highway near Cherry Creek is closed in both directions.

DriveBC first reported of a vehicle incident on Highway 1 between Deer Drive and Rodeo Drive, nearly 11 kilometres west of Kamloops, at around 9:45 a.m. Monday (Aug. 12).

A detour is not available, and an assessment is in progress. DriveBC says it’s awaiting the arrival of BC Hydro crews. BC Hydro reported a motor vehicle accident that knocked out power for 265 customers in the area at around 8:45 a.m. Monday.

Another update from DriveBC is due at 11:30 a.m.
