Vehicle incident impacts traffic on Highway 1 in Savona

UPDATE: DriveBC announced the stretch of Highway 1 in Savona reopened at around 1:30 a.m. Monday.

EARLIER: KAMLOOPS — A stretch of the Trans Canada Highway in Savona is expected to remain closed Sunday (Aug. 11) night.

DriveBC first reported of a vehicle incident on Highway 1 at Savona Station Road at around 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

In an update posted at around 5:45 p.m., DriveBC says a vehicle incident closed the stretch of Highway 1 in both directions, and drivers should expect major delays in the area.

A local detour for passenger vehicles only is available via Tunkwa Lake Road. The Coquihalla Highway from Kamloops to Hope also remains open.
