Severe thunderstorm watch issued for South Thompson area

Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the South Thompson area at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday (Aug. 10), noting conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and torrential rain.

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds and torrential rainfall.

Environment Canada notes lightning kills and injures Canadians every year, and encourages residents to go inside when thunder roars.
