Permanent repairs on Highway 8 east of Spences Bridge to begin soon
SPENCES BRIDGE, B.C. — Permanent repairs on Highway 8 between Merritt and Spences Bridge are set to begin this year.
B.C.’s Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure says the work to restore nearly 15 kilometres of highway east of Spences Bridge and enhance its climate resilience comes following the atmospheric river flooding of 2021.
In a news release issued Thursday (Aug. 8), the province states design work will begin this summer with construction following. The project includes replacing two temporary structures with permanent bridges and building approximately three kilometers of connecting highway.
