More properties under evacuation alert due to Shetland Creek wildfire

The Thompson-Nicola Regional District expanded its evacuation alert area for properties under threat from the Shetland Creek wildfire on Saturday (Aug. 3) afternoon, adding about 54 addressed properties in the Botanie Valley area.

There are 206 addressed properties under evacuation alert for Electoral Area “I” (Blue Sky Country).

Discovered on July 12, the Shetland Creek wildfire has grown to nearly 26,000 hectares and spurred evacuation alerts from Cook’s Ferry Indian Band, the district of Logan Lake, the Village of Ashcroft and the TNRD.

There are evacuation orders in place from the TNRD, the Oregon Jack Creek Band, Lytton First Nation and Cook’s Ferry Indian Band.
