PARIS, FRANCE — Ethan Katzberg of the Kamloops Track and Field Club is an Olympic gold medallist.

The reigning world champion dismantled the competition in the men’s hammer throw final on Sunday at the Games in Paris.

The 22-year-old Nanaimo product with the viking visage unleashed a visceral scream after his first throw of 84.12 metres and made his way toward coach Dylan Armstrong, who was equally fired up in the crowd.

That monster heave held up as the gold-medal winner and was his longest of the day.
