Kamloops’ Ethan Katzberg leads the way in qualification, advances to men’s hammer throw final at Paris Summer Olympics

PARIS — Ethan Katzberg of the Kamloops Track and Field Club soared to the finals in men’s hammer throw at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympic Games.

Men’s hammer throw qualification for Group B began at 2:35 a.m. Pacific Friday (Aug. 2) and the world-ranked No. 1 Katzberg lead the way with 79.93 metres on his second throw to punch his ticket to the finals on Sunday.

Of the 12 hammer throwers who qualified for Sunday’s final, the 22-year-old from Nanaimo leads the pack with season best and personal best throws of 84.38 metres.
