Dunn Creek wildfire now listed at more than 2,200 hectares in size
LITTLE FORT, B.C. — The Dunn Creek wildfire has nearly doubled in size.
In an update Wednesday (July 31) afternoon, the BC Wildfire Service says the wildfire near Dunn Lake east of Little Fort is now measured at 2,286 hectares in size. It was measured at just more than 1,200 hectares earlier in the week but the service says the updated size reflects more accurate mapping.
“[Twenty-one] firefighting personnel, along with two structure protection crews and heavy equipment are onsite and actioning the fire,” the wildfire service states. “A machine guard continues to be built along the north and south flanks and crews are working on gaining better access to the northeast corner.”
The Thompson-Nicola Regional District’s evacuation order and alerts related to the Dunn Creek wildfire are unchanged.
