Evacuation orders rescinded for Wells, Barkerville
WELLS, B.C. — There is a sigh of relief Friday (July 26) for the Cariboo community of Wells and the historic Barkerville townsite.
Late Thursday, the District of Wells rescinded its evacuation order, meaning residents of the community who were forced to flee last Sunday (July 21) can return home.
Then Friday, the Cariboo Regional District lifted the evacuation order for Barkerville.
A state of emergency for the area has also been rescinded. Both communities remain on evacuation alert, meaning residents must be ready to leave on very short notice.
