RCMP presence on Victoria Street West Wednesday result of stolen property, prolific offender investigations
KAMLOOPS — A major police presence on Victoria Street West Wednesday (July 24) was the result of a stolen property report that turned into a more serious matter.
In a news release, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says frontline officers followed a stolen property investigation to the West Victoria address at about 2:00 p.m. Wednesday.
At the same time, the suspects were also the focus of a prolific offender investigation by the detachment’s Crime Reduction Unit (CRU), who converged on the scene as well.
“A large police presence was visible at the time and although several people were detained, only two were arrested,” said Evelyn. “A quantity of drugs and a handgun were seized as part of the investigation. The electronics that were reported stolen however, remain outstanding.”
