Man charged with throwing rocks at children playing in downtown Kamloops park

KAMLOOPS — Charges have been laid in a case of a man reported to be yelling and throwing rocks at children playing in a downtown Kamloops park.

In a news release, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says officers were called to the park in the 200-block of St. Paul Street during the noon hour Tuesday (July 23). Officers were told a person had been throwing rocks and yelling at children.

“Officers located and arrested a suspect, who was held in custody for a bail hearing,” said Evelyn. “He appeared in court yesterday and was remanded until his next court appearance, scheduled for this Friday, July 26.”

Ali Bedjaoui, 46, is facing charges of mischief related to the interruption of use and enjoyment of a park, and causing a disturbance by throwing rocks and yelling.
