Dunn Creek wildfire near Little Fort grows to 350 hectares; nearby Mount Fennell wildfire being held
LITTLE FORT, B.C. — A wildfire near Little Fort has seen substantial growth.
In an update Tuesday (July 23) afternoon, the BC Wildfire Service lists the Dunn Creek wildfire just east of the community, on the east bank of the North Thompson River, at 350 hectares in size. The suspected cause is under investigation.
The Thompson Nicola Regional District (TNRD) put 10 properties surrounding Dunn Lake on evacuation alert Tuesday. No additional properties have been placed on alert.
Meantime, the Mount Fennell wildfire just west of the Dunn Creek fire, but still on the east side of the North Thompson, is being held at 2.5 hectares. It’s suspected to be caused by lightning.
