River Valley fire evacuation alert lifted by City of Williams Lake

WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — There is good news for residents and property owners in Williams Lake, where an evacuation alert put in place Sunday evening (July 21) has been rescinded.

Tuesday afternoon, The City of Williams Lake rescinded its alert put in place due to the River Valley wildfire that ignited Sunday after a strong wind knocked a tree over a BC Hydro line.

Earlier in the day Tuesday, the B.C. Wildfire Service announced the wildfire is being held.

The evacuation alert is lifted for properties on Mackenzie Avenue from the Highway 20 corridor to the Jackpine Sawmill Access Road, Fairview Drive, Country Club Boulevard, Woodland Drive area, Westridge Drive area and the Tolko Lakeview Sawmill.
