Little Fort-area fires trigger evacuation alert around Dunn Lake

LITTLE FORT, B.C. — A fresh wildfire in the Little Fort area has prompted an evacuation alert from the Thompson Nicola Regional District (TNRD).

The Dunn Creek wildfire was discovered Monday (July 22) just east of the community, on the east bank of the North Thompson River. By early Tuesday afternoon, it had spread to 4.5 hectares.

The TNRD has put 10 properties surrounding Dunn Lake on evacuation alert. Residents of those properties are advised to be ready to leave on very short notice.

A second fire, the Mount Fennell wildfire, is located just west of the Dunn Creek fire, but still on the east side of the North Thompson. The Mount Fennell fire is measured at 2.5 hectares as of Monday.
