EVACUATION ALERT

District of Wells issues evacuation alert due to growing Antler Creek wildfire

WELLS, B.C. — UPDATE: This story has been updated with new information here.

EARLIER: The district of Wells issued an evacuation alert on Sunday (July 21) afternoon due to the Antler Creek wildfire, a blaze that has experienced notable growth since Saturday (July 20).

As of Sunday afternoon, the fire is listed at 1,200 hectares on the BC Wildfire Service website, up from 170 hectares on Sunday morning.

The evacuation alert is issued to allow residents to prepare to evacuate should an evacuation order be made, according to a media release issued by the district of Wells.

Residents will be given as much advance notice as possible before evacuation is ordered, but may receive limited notice due to changing conditions.
