ASHCROFT, B.C. — In response to the Shetland Creek Wildfire, Interior Health says it is moving more than two dozen residents of long-term care facilities in Ashcroft.

IH says it is relocating 21 residents from the Jackson House long-term care home and five residents from the Thompson View Lodge assisted living facility to other locations. Families are being contacted directly about where their loved ones are being moved to.

Interior Health says the Urgent and Primary Care Centre in Ashcroft is not impacted as of Friday afternoon (July 19), and is open for care with normal hours.

The health authority says it is working with all other community clients to make plans for people to access services if they need to evacuate.
