Closest fire to Kamloops — Alexander Lake — now 33 ha

KAMLOOPS — The closest wildfire to Kamloops is the Alexander Lake wildfire, discovered Thursday (July 18) in Porcupine Meadows Provincial Park about 32 kilometres northwest of Kamloops.

The B.C. Wildfire Service (BCWS) maps the fire at 33 hectares as of Friday afternoon. It is still considered out of control.

BCWS says there are multiple initial attack crews working on the lightning-caused fire, as well as two helicopters.

There are no evacuation alerts or orders associated with the Alexander Lake fire.
