Ashcroft Ranch property placed under evacuation alert

ASHCROFT, B.C. — The threat presented by the Shetland Creek wildfire is growing more real for residents of Ashcroft.
As of Thursday afternoon (July 18), the Village of Ashcroft has placed the Ashcroft Ranch property on evacuation alert. Those who occupy or use the property should be ready to leave on very short notice.
The move comes as the Thompson Nicola Regional District expanded evacuation orders and alerts related to the Shetland Creek fire.
The B.C. Wildfire Service says the fire reached nearly 5,000 hectares Thursday.
