LOGAN LAKE, B.C. — The District of Logan Lake has announced the death of one of its councillors, Marion Bell, who passed away on Monday (July 15).

Bell was first elected to council in 1994 and served until 2002. She was elected again in 2018 and served until her passing.

In a news release, Logan Lake Mayor Robin Smith said Bell was approachable, passionate and determined to serve the needs of the community with integrity and practicality — and never afraid to share her fun-loving side.

The release, which does not note a cause of death, said Bell’s impact in the community will be felt for years to come.

“We will miss her enthusiasm and courage to speak out as a community leader and friend, and her unwavering dedication and vision to making the District of Logan Lake a better place to live,” the release said.

The district has not yet announced plans for a by-election to fill Bell’s seat on council.

Bell is the second Logan Lake councillor to pass away during this term. Her death comes nearly one year after the death of Chris Candy, who passed away on July 18, 2023.

Amber Chong won a by-election last November to fill Candy’s seat.
