QUESNEL, B.C. — A lightning storm that moved through the Cariboo region has lit a batch of new wildfires east of Quesnel.
Fire Information Officer Hannah Chabot of the BC Wildfire Service says the majority of the fires have been discovered either Tuesday or Wednesday.
While most of the fires remain very small or spot sized, the vast majority are categorized as out of control.
Two fires, both near Mount Stevenson north of Quesnel Lake, are measured at 40 and 50 hectares, respectively.
