KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops is putting on what it calls a “one-of-a-kind, experiential event” meant to celebrate arts in the community and raise excitement for its proposed performing arts centre.

The Celebration of the Arts event will be held on Monday, July 29, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 393 Seymour Street, the site of the planned Kamloops Centre for the Arts.

In a news release issued Tuesday (July 9), the city says its event will include live entertainment, food and drink vendors, interactive displays and activities, as well as a public address from ‘dignitaries past and present.’

“We welcome residents of all ages,” said City of Kamloops Cultural Services and Events Manager Dusan Magdolen in the release. “This event is for everyone and will have something for everyone, just like the Kamloops Centre for the Arts will.

“Our goal is to showcase the various opportunities the Kamloops Centre for the Arts will offer in a fun, unique, experiential way.”

Meantime, the city is also holding an open house to discuss its Build Kamloops plan Tuesday (July 9), of which the Centre for the Arts is a major component.

The open house will be held at Kelson Hall (330 St. Paul Street) from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
