EMERGENCY ROOM CLOSURES

Emergency department closures in place at Nicola Valley Hospital, Lillooet Hospital

Temporary service interruptions are in place for emergency departments at Nicola Valley Hospital in Merritt and Lillooet Hospital.

The closures are to due to limited physician availability, according to Interior Health media releases.

Emergency services at Lillooet Hospital stopped at 6 a.m. on Sunday (July 7) and will be unavailable until 8 a.m. on Monday (July 8).

Access to emergency services at Nicola Valley Hospital concluded at 8 a.m. on Sunday and are unavailable until 8 a.m. on Tuesday (July 9).

All other inpatient services will continue as normal at both hospitals.

Patients are asked to access emergency services care at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops during the service interruptions in Merritt and Lillooet.

Those who need life-threatening emergency care such as chest pains, difficulty breathing and severe bleeding should always call 911 for transport to the nearest available and appropriate facility, according to Interior Health.
