CLINTON, B.C. — A Clinton village councillor is facing domestic assault and weapons charges dating back to June 2023.

Nicholas Kosovic made his first appearance in court on June 10 at the Kamloops Courthouse.

Kosovic is facing assault charges related to three separate incidents — one in June 2023, one in December of last year and one originating from this February. He is also charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose from last December.

Kosovic was due in court Thursday (July 4) for arraignment.

According to his biography on the village website, the first-term councillor works as a tutor.

In an email to CFJC Today, Mayor Roland Stanke says Kosovic was placed on a leave of absence at the end of May, when charges were first laid.

Stanke says the village can take no further action until or unless Kosovic is found guilty, at which point he could be removed from office.

In the interim, Stanke says he and the other three councillors have taken on Kosovic’s council portfolios.
