Reports of shots fired on North Shore believed to be targeted: Kamloops RCMP

UPDATE (7:15 a.m.): Kamloops Fire Rescue confirmed crews did extinguish a vehicle fire near Westsyde Road Wednesday night.

Platoon Captain Jim Gorman told CFJC Today the call came in at around 7:20 p.m.

He says the fire spread five metres into the grass but crews were able to knock it down quickly.

Gorman says the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

KAMLOOPS — A report of shots fired on the North Shore Wednesday (July 3) night that led to a noticeable police presence is believed to be a targeted incident.

S/Sgt. Darren Dodge told CFJC Today Kamloops RCMP responded to the 100-block of Tranquille Road at around 6:50 p.m. Wednesday where a man was found suffering from injuries. He was sent to hospital and his injuries are non-life-threatening.

Further north, photos posted to social media showed traffic at a standstill on Westsyde Road near the Grasslands due to a large police presence.

“Police resources were deployed for several hours last night as part of this investigation, and it touched on all parts of north Kamloops,” Dodge says.

The investigation is ongoing, and a news release from Kamloops RCMP is expected later Thursday.
