Heavy rain on tap for North Thompson and Shuswap regions on Canada Day

CLEARWATER, B.C. — A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the North Thompson and Shuswap regions Monday (July 1).

Environment Canada states conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing heavy rain.

The weather agency warns that heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

Residents are asked to take cover if threatening weather approaches.

There’s no estimated time for when the severe thunderstorm watch will be lifted.
