KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Airport (YKA) is feeling the effects of the labour dispute between WestJet and the union representing nearly 680 of the airline’s aircraft mechanics and tech ops.

According to YKA’s flight status page online, both of WestJet’s departures from Kamloops to Calgary at 11:05 a.m. and 3:10 p.m. Sunday (June 30) have been cancelled. Additionally, three arrivals from Calgary at 10:26 a.m., 2:37 p.m. and 11:51 p.m. have been cancelled.

In a news release issued Saturday, WestJet states a total of 407 flights have been cancelled up to Tuesday, July 2, to “maintain stability across its remaining operation.”

WestJet adds it will continue parking aircraft and working to safely reduce its operating fleet to nearly 30 aircraft by Sunday evening.
