MERRITT, B.C. — Child killer Allan Schoenborn will spend at least one more year under his current community supervision conditions and pending approval from the BC Review Board, could receive conditional discharge from his forensic psychiatric hospital.

On Tuesday (June 25), Schoenborn appeared before the board’s three-person panel where Crown counsel, hospital staff and Schoenborn agreed on a joint submission to maintain his current custodial orders, which include up to 28 days of unescorted leave at one time from the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital in Coquitlam.

Tuesday’s hearing was a resumption of an April 17 hearing that adjourned following an angry outburst by Schoenborn which was followed by his lawyer Rishi Gill removing himself as Schoenborn’s council for what he called “commentary” from the chair of the review board which he felt was inappropriate.

Schoenborn is currently on a wait list at the Community Transitional Care (CTC) program, which would require a conditional discharge from the hospital.

On April 6 2008, Schoenborn killed his three young children — Kaitlynne (10), Max (8), and Cordon (5). An extensive manhunt ensued which resulted in his capture in the woods by hunter Kim Robinson on April 16, 2008.

A judge found Schoenborn guilty of first-degree murder for stabbing and suffocating his children but deemed him not criminally responsible due to mental illness.
