Kamloops man pleads guilty to manslaughter in 2021 motel shooting

KAMLOOPS – Lukas Wade Anderson pleaded guilty Monday (June 24) afternoon at the Kamloops Courthouse for his role in the 2021 fatal shooting at the downtown Howard Johnson Motel.

On Feb. 13, 2021, Kamloops RCMP responded to a report of shots fired at the Columbia Street motel, where they found the body of 23-year-old Mikael Wayne Stewart.

Anderson was arrested in Dec. 2022 on three charges, including manslaughter, possession of a firearm and breach of his probation.

On Monday afternoon, the court heard Anderson plead guilty to two of the three charges, including manslaughter with a firearm and breach of his probation.
