Chase man bear-sprayed after attempting to stop fuel theft
CHASE, B.C. — A man was bear-sprayed after attempting to stop an alleged fuel theft in Chase last week.
Chase RCMP say officers responded to Aylmer Road on June 14 at around 3:13 a.m. where they were told of the man interrupting two men attempting to steal fuel from a vehicle in his driveway.
“The victim smashed out the back window of their get-away vehicle; so, the fleeing occupants bear-sprayed him,” RCMP state. “The victim was not dressed for the occasion and required head-to-toe decontamination. Luckily, he suffered no permanent injury.”
Police say the suspect vehicle appeared to be a newer model Subaru Crosstrek – with a smashed out back hatch window.
