KAMLOOPS — The province has announced 11 new active transportation grants worth $85 million — and four of those grants are earmarked for projects in the Kamloops area.

  • Shuswap Road multi-use path from Sun Rivers to Sienna Ridge
  • Planning for Shuswap Road multi-use path from Sienna Ridge to Lafarge
  • Engineering for bike paths on Highway 1 west overpass and Highway 5 Thompson River crossing in Kamloops
  • Highway 5 Nicola interchange pedestrian and safety improvements in Merritt

“When people have the opportunity to use safe, efficient and affordable travel options, they take it,” said Fleming. “That’s why we’re building overpasses, trail networks and bike lanes that will give a new generation new ways to travel within and between their communities.”

The grants are in addition to $24 million from the Active Transportation Infrastructure Grant program issued to 80 projects earlier this year.
