E.coli risk closes beach in Sorrento

SORRENTO, B.C. — The Columbia Shuswap Regional District says a swim advisory is in place for a Shuswap beach after E.coli bacteria was found in the water.

A swim advisory sent out by the regional district says “unacceptable E.coli bacterial counts” were found in recent water samples at the Caen Road Community Park.

The park remains open to the public.

The district says swimming isn’t recommended due to elevated risk of stomach or intestinal illness.
