BC Wildfire Service makes progress in containing fire near Clinton

A wildfire about three kilometres south of Clinton is being held as of Saturday (June 15) afternoon, according to the BC Wildfire Service website.

The blaze along Highway 97, about 1.3 kilometres southeast of Salt Lake, grew from four hectares on Friday morning to 12 hectares on Friday night, when it was classified as out of control.

Initial attack crews and a unit crew fought the fire, with support from BCWS aviation resources and heavy equipment.

The blaze is suspected to be human-caused, and is not projected to grow under current conditions
